Wesley Begay was born in Ganado, Arizona near Hubbell’s Trading Post in 1963.
He is the third child of seven, born to Maggie, a great Navajo Rug weaver and Henry, a jeweler who excelled with inlay work.His sisters are weavers also.
For many years, Wesley worked for the state of Arizona as a facility manager for the Ganado School. Although he made some jewelry with his father, it was only when he retired in 2018 did he start making jewelry full time.He decided to focus on traditional overlay jewelry.
Wesley and his wife have been married for 35 years and have seven children. They have a son who is taking up the art of Navajo rug weaving like his grandmother and aunts.
Wesley loves all sports, nature, hiking, and plays basketball.
