Richard John is proud to say that he is full blooded Navajo. He was born in 1956 in the town of Winslow. His oldest brother John Richard was a big influence in his life, as he taught him the art of cutting out designs in jewelry. His Uncle Tommy Singer along with David Lister were also a part of his education.
Because he was needed at home to help herd the sheep and work on the ranch, he never went to school. Even to this day, he can not read or write. Because of a pinched nerve Richard gave up jewelry for many years. In 2013 he came back with many of his lovely designs. He has three children, but none of them are making jewelry.
