Richard was born in 1979 in Tuba City, Arizona, and he was raised on Paiute Mountain. His mom is both Ute and Navajo, and his dad is San Juan, Paiute, and Navajo. His grandmother (on his mother's side) was Annie Laura Chief, and his other grandmother (on his father's side) was Bessie Owl. Richard has been weaving baskets since he was 13 years old. He does the traditional ceremonial design in a very tight weave. He's shown his artwork at the Santa Fe Indian Market, the Gallup Inter ceremonial show, and the Heard Museum show.
