    Anthony Gatewood

Stemming from his Isleta name, Anthony created his jewelry as his extension of the Southwest’s vibrant Native art.  Exquisite jewelry fabrication extends far into Anthony’s history as he began as an apprentice at age 16 under his renowned uncles namely his late uncle Andy Lee Kirk and Michael Kirk.

Anthony currently extends and challenges his knowledge of manipulating fine metals and natural stones by encasing them in traditional Native American designs as well as, contemporary designs.  An array of natural stones is used in Anthony’s intricate and detailed 14k and Sterling Silver inlay work.  Some of the natural pallets of color Anthony brushes his creations with include cabs of natural stone of fine grade coral, turquoise, lapis, sugilite and opal. Anthony sees his creations from start to finish including casting and rolling his own gold plate by hand to sodering to setting stones to final buff.

Inspired by and reflecting on the spirit of the Southwest, both of his uncles’ teachings, as well as his own innovations Anthony continues to carry on a great Native family tradition through his alluring creations.
