We are pleased to introduce Julie Feldman's one-of-a-kind handmade bags as the newest additions to our gallery! These bags feature antique Navajo Rugs from our sister store, Garland's Navajo Rugs that were repurposed and given new life in the talented hands of Julie Feldman.
Our gallery owner, Tricia Garland is particularly excited about the new acquisitions. She recalls, "I met Julie over 10 years ago in Sedona at a mutual friend's dinner party. Almost every time she came into town, we would get together. I love her honesty, straightforwardness, and she is just a fun person. I had seen her gorgeous purses and really loved them.
"My husband Dan and I have thought for years that it would be wonderful to create purses with old Navajo rugs. We feel it is a wonderful way to carry on the spirit of the Navajo weavings that are too damaged to use as traditional floor rugs. And it was Dan that suggested Julie! Why had I not thought of teaming up with her before? She has an incredible team that respects the weavings, and everything is hand made in the USA! I hope you enjoy these gorgeous creations that are absolutely one of a kind!"
Julie Feldman, artist and designer, creates welded steel sculpture, paintings and mixed media. Her minimalist sculptures have been chosen for Los Angeles museum project council events and sold throughout the country. She often incorporates her love of the written word with her original copy. Julie integrates fabrics, textiles and found objects in much of her work and makes a unique statement blending the tangible with the spiritual. Paving a unique path inventing original, delicately feminine and memorably beautiful handbags and accessories, has been one of Julie's latest passions that are also sold at museums, galleries and the finest shoppes throughout the world.
