As we welcome the changing of seasons in Oak Creek Canyon, Garland's Indian Jewelry is pleased to host our First Annual Artists Showcase every weekend this October. Join us Saturdays and Sundays from 10-5 throughout October to meet some of the most acclaimed artists in Native American jewelry.
This is a great opportunity to learn about the art and cultures we all admire directly from the artists themselves.

October 3rd and 4th, our event begins with a weekend featuring two different expressions ot traditional Navajo silversmithing in Allison Snowhawk Lee and husband and wife duo, David and Alice Lister.
David and Alice Lister have a love for older, traditional Navajo jewelry and their art pays tribute to the timeless beauty of traditional Navajo silverwork. The Listers are known for their heavy-guage silver, hand-cut stones, and beautiful color combinations of turquoise, coral, sugilite and more.
Strangers to no jewelry form, their portfolio features bracelets, concha belts, earrings, rings, belt buckles, necklaces, even hair barrettes and spurs! Alice are David are one of the sweetest couples we know and represent many aspects of the Navajo culture that we truly admire.

Also on the first weekend, we are honored to host Allison Snowhawk Lee. Like the Listers, Lee is an award-winning Navajo artist with a connection to the traditions of the Navajo silversmith. Allison, who began making jewelry at the age of 14, has always seemed to have a natural talent for it. Both parents were silversmiths, and the art was seamlessly passed down to him as a teenager. He began entering jewelry in juried competitions in 1988 and never looked back.
Allison's jewelry is known for extremely clean silverwork, sharp lines, and is often centered around a single beautiful piece of turquoise. He is also well known for his hand-made silver bead necklaces, which he makes in a myriad of shapes and sizes.

Week 2, October 10th and 11th, Isleta pueblo couple, Melanie and Michael Lente will grace us with their unique and vibrant jewelry. Fusing traditional design elements and tribal motifs with modern, minimalist elegance, their work reflects their cultural roots as well as contemporary sophistication.

Week 3, October 17th and 18th, acclaimed Hopi / Laguna artist, Duane Maktima will showcase his award-winning jewelry featuring the striking combination of Red Rosarita with Black Jade and Australian Opal. His gold and silver designs create a timeless look for which Duane is known across the globe.

Week 4, October 24th and 25th, Navajo brothers, Alvin and Bryon Yellowhorse will exhibit their impressive inlay jewelry techniques. Using hundreds of high-grade, finely cut stones in a single piece, Alvin and Bryon have both earned a following among Native American jewelry lovers for their clean, contemporary work and detailed craftsmanship.

Week 5, October 31st and November 1st, we close our October Showcase with one final showing of the unbelievable Santa Barbara Collection. Featuring historically relevant pieces by the masters in Indian jewelry, this private collection offers visitors a chance to view and appreciate museum-quality pieces. Come see these amazing works before they leave the store!
